What kind of soil or medium do you use?
Growing the highest quality microgreens requires premium soil!
We discovered this to be a product created locally in Alberta by Professional Gardener.
This exclusive mix is introduced with a blend of aged ORGANIC peat based material, followed up by there proprietary formula of 40 beneficial Bacteria and Fungi (from Compost Extracts). These extracts are responsible for feeding the root zone of the microgreens, therefore enhancing the taste profile that we so desperately desire.
The balance of water retention to drainage is ideal with a small amount of perlite added to the mixture creating a perfect environment for germination. The addition of dolomite lime creates the perfect ph level that plants need for optimal growth.
This is why our product's quality stands alone, as exquisite taste, colour, growth, and freshness are a must in healthy microgreen expression - anything less than the best is unacceptable!
Are you certified organic?
We are not certified by Ecocert. Our soil is organic based but is not certified organic. ALL of the rest of Percy Greens amendments, liquid fertilizers, and seeds are Organic.
Our greens are grown indoors in a strategically controlled environment. Our Grow Room Air is scrubbed with a HEPA grade filter and infused with CO2. Our water is filtered, and amended with organic plant additives. Our growing environment is tightly sealed with its own CO2, air movement, light, heat, cooling and dehumidification capabilities.
Are your greens grown indoors?
Our microgreens are always grown indoors in a strategically controlled, hygienic environment. Accurate temperature and humidity levels are maintained along with just the right amount of air movement.
Just how fresh are they?
Microgreens are harvested the day before delivery - we are local and fresh!
What kind of lights do you use?
We grow with premium LED lights. LED lights create a better product than standard T5 lighting, and light spectrum matters when you're trying to grow the best.
Where do you get your seeds? Are they organic too?
Our one and only organic seed distributer is Mumm’s Sprouting Seeds, located in Saskatchewan.
How are your microgreens harvested?
Our microgreens are harvested by human hand, no harvesting machines, or clippers, and are watered with filtered Calgary water.
What are your sanitization techniques?
All related harvest tools, tables, trays, gloves, (some) seeds are treated with food grade hydrogen peroxide, while floors, walls, and sinks treated with bleach. We also wear hair nets and face masks - cleanliness is necessary!
